Editorial policy
Open Cinema Review aims for clear, accurate writing about cinema. We separate observable details from interpretation, check factual statements against suitable material and correct published errors plainly.
Accuracy and interpretation
We check names, dates and claims about film history before publication, and make the basis of factual statements clear in the article where needed. Analysis is not presented as fact: readers should be able to tell what is visible or audible in a film and what is an interpretation of it.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for the publication’s readers, not to secure favourable coverage. A collaboration or commercial relationship does not determine an article’s conclusion. Where a relationship could matter to a reader’s understanding, it is disclosed.
Corrections
If something appears wrong or unclear, contact us with the article title and the specific passage. We review the point, correct confirmed errors and clarify substantial changes in the article rather than silently leaving a misleading account in place.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid or partner material is clearly identified as such and kept distinct from independent editorial coverage. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; when an illustration is AI-generated, it is labelled. Illustrations are not evidence for claims about a film.
Look closely before reaching a verdict
A film’s effect often begins in its construction. We name the choices on screen and leave room for viewers to decide what they mean.
